Yes, entirely free! Spread the word and ask people to join.
We recommend for each member of the team to bring their personal internet-enabled laptop/device, where possible. If needed, teams can also bring their own stationeries e.g. markers/pens, sketch paper etc. to facilitate team discussion and ideation. Most importantly, come to the hackathon with an open and creative mind!
The organising team will help to assign one to your team based on your team’s problem statement, solution and needs. The list of mentors will be made available later on.

This networking session, conducted about 2 months prior to the hackathon, is designed to provide teams with an opportunity to interact with the Organising Committee and other teams in person. There will also be a series of fireside chats with investors and startups in the HealthTech and MedTech space.

Prize

The cash components will be given for prototype budget and/or completing project milestones by the respective sponsor. For the first prize, the pharmacist or pharmacy student has to be a Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore (PSS) member for the team to qualify. If they are not currently a member, they may sign up to become one.
Through these 6 months, the relevant event partner hopes to facilitate winning teams to move forward with their proposed solutions. Services include free incubation space to work on prototype (tables, chairs, MVP labs, meeting rooms, administrative support), increased exposure to the MedTech industry via events/activities, rubbing shoulders with MedTech Founders, receiving advice from various stakeholders such as mentors, investors, venture champions, finding a mentor/investor of your own, and so on. The aim is to provide a basic support for venture creation and also the formulation of a MVP (minimum viable product) where possible.
The start date of the 6-month period can be discussed with the relevant event partner. The solution can be in the ideation stage if it is not prototype-ready. This can be worked on part-time.
The finer details will be worked out between the relevant event partner and the team. This will depend on the situation as it develops. For example, the team might realise the technology they are developing exists with the patent/IP library and decide to lease it. A venture champion from the relevant event partner might see the potential of the ideation and decide to create a joint IP, etc.

Problem

The theme for the hackathon is “Ageing Well, Innovation for Super-Aged Societies”. As the theme suggests, we are looking for solutions to help tackle the challenges associated with super-ageing and super-aged societies!
We welcome problem statements based on the hackathon theme, which is in line with national priorities like HealthierSG. Not to fret if you do not have any problem statements – the organising committee can help to suggest with the backing of our healthcare partners.

Solution

The solution ideation/development should address the problem statement. We welcome all types e.g. AI models, web or mobile applications, medtech hardware and software, and so on.
We will provide teams with a list of suggested open source datasets after teams have been confirmed. Teams are free to decide if the datasets are suitable for their problem statement or expected solutioning.
Any solution that has not reached the ready-to-market stage – startups, teams or individuals with prototypes to work on are welcome to join.
The full judging criteria will be released during the hackathon. Some teasers on key criteria include team collaboration, presentation and adherence to theme, as well as feasibility, cost-effectiveness, scalability and creativity of the proposed solution.

Sponsorship

Please contact sghackitrx@pss.org.sg for more details on the sponsorship packages.

Team

Working adults and students are both welcome – the minimum age to participate is 18 years old. No experience is needed. You can join as an individual or a team. Regardless of nationality, as long as 1 team member is based in Singapore, you are welcome to join as well.
This is a physical event, participants are required to be present physically.
As long as half your team is around for representation (e.g. 1 pax if you are a 2-member team), your teammates are agreeable and your team can continue hacking away, this will not be a problem.
We encourage multi-disciplinary teams of 2 to 5 members with at least 1 pharmacist or pharmacy student. The organising committee will help you to form teams if you join individually.
Yes, you may indicate in the registration that you would like a pharmacist/pharmacy student to be assigned to your team.
