Guidelines for Oral Presentation

GUIDELINES FOR ORAL PRESENTATION COMPETITION

  • The oral presentation judging will be held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore, on 5 October 2024. Presenters must be at the venue 15 minutes before the schedule listed below:
    • Pharmacist track: Riverfront Room, 12:30–13:30 (GMT+8).
    • Pharmacy technician symposium: Waterfront Room, 13:30–15:00 (GMT+8).*
  • Authors of shortlisted abstracts will receive an email notification from the congress secretariat. Confirmation of participation must be received via email to the congress secretariat within 5 days from notification, to avoid disqualification or forfeiture of any award.
  • All oral presenters must register for a 2-day onsite pass to the Congress on/before 31 July 2024. The oral presenter (PSS member or non-member) is eligible for early bird registration rates throughout the registration period. Please request the special registration link from the congress secretariat at secretariat.spc@mims.com.
  • More details will be emailed to the presenting author closer to the congress.
  • All oral presentations must be in English and prepared using the official congress PowerPoint (PPT) template.
  • Time for each oral presentation: 11 minutes
    • Presentation: 8 minutes
    • Important: Keep the number of slides to a minimum to keep the length of the talk on track. A good guideline is one slide per minute. After 8 minutes, the session chairperson will be obliged to end the presentation.
    • Questions and answers: 3 minutes
  • The oral presentation should include:
    • Background & objectives
    • Methods
    • Results (include appropriately labelled tables and figures, if applicable)
    • Discussion (focusing on strengths and weakness, pharmacy practice relevance/impact/innovation)
    • Conclusion (clear take-home message[s] for the audience)
    • Acknowledgement and declaration of funding, if applicable
    • References (restrict to key references)
  • Award decisions by the panel of judges will be considered final.
  • The award presentation for the best oral presentation will be on 6 October 2024, 16:00 (GMT+8), at the Grand Ballroom.

Optional e-poster
  • Oral presenters are also invited to prepare a 1-slide e-poster, which will be uploaded to the 33rd Singapore Pharmacy Congress website and made available via the onsite e-poster kiosks during the 2-day congress.
  • Please prepare the 1-slide e-poster using PowerPoint. Ensure the layout is set to 16:9 landscape or portrait layout.
  • Save your final 1-slide e-poster as a PDF file.
  • The 1-slide e-poster must be emailed to secretariat.spc@mims.com by 30 August 2024.


*The presentation starts at 14:30 (GMT+8) but presenters need to be on site at 13:15 (GMT+8) for the briefing.
