Adj A/Prof Michael David Winther is senior director for Target Discovery at Engine Biosciences and adjunct research associate professor at the Department of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He has extensive experience in drug discovery, with senior positions at Xenon Pharmaceuticals and Scotia Pharmaceuticals, Canada, and Welcome Research Laboratories, UK. In 2014, he relocated to Singapore to manage the National Pharmacogenomics Programme, SAPhIRE. He also held the position of associate director at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where he was responsible for business development and management of intellectual property.

Adj A/Prof Winther obtained a PhD from the University of Stirling, Scotland, with postdoctoral training at the University of Essex. His work has spanned diverse areas of research and clinical investigation in drug discovery, including vaccines, small molecule therapeutics and biological products.
