Updates in COVID-19 Oral Antiviral and Vaccines

This session will summarize and discuss evidence-based pharmacotherapy, with a focus on oral antiviral agents, for COVID-19 infection. A summary of vaccinations against COVID-19, influenza and pneumococcal infection will also be covered.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

• Recognize relevant virology aspects of the COVID-19 virus and understand the pathogenesis and pathophysiology of COVID-19 infection

• Describe pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of oral antiviral agents and their clinical application to determine potential drug interactions and optimise drug therapy in adult patients

• Familiarize themselves with the national recommendation on vaccinations against COVID-19, influenza and pneumococcal infection
