Plenary Lecture 1: Chief Pharmacist’s Address – Translating Possibilities into Realities

Our healthcare system is being stretched to its limits with the many new initiatives plus a manpower crisis and an ageing population looming in the background. This is true for all of our national pharmacy programmes that are being strategised, developed and implemented and the new direction that our healthcare system is taking through Healthier SG (HSg).

What are the next steps that our pharmacy profession should take even as the first wave of residents enrol into HSg? How will our scope of practice evolve to better meet the needs of the population? What will need to change, to better recruit and retain our workforce in the patient care settings? How will the education and training needs of the pharmacy workforce evolve?

We’re entering an exciting time of change that will hopefully see better health outcomes for our population and more joy for our pharmacy workforce.
