Plenary Lecture 3: Riding the Waves and Reimagining Possibilities (Panel Discussion)

The future of pharmacy practice will see significant changes driven by population shifts, emerging technologies, and healthcare delivery models. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of trends in healthcare were emerging: care decentralisation, community integration/shared care, value-driven care, patient-centric care, and data-driven care. COVID-19 accelerated these shifts, and advances in these areas are unlikely to be undone or slowed down but rather accelerated further in the near future.

Are we ready, as a pharmacy community, to embrace and take advantage of these trends? We will need to adapt to new models of care delivery, potentially working in non-traditional settings and expanding our scope of practice to include additional services.

This fireside chat will explore alternative frontiers of pharmacy practice innovations that could also bring about significant changes in the patient care experience and related health outcomes.
