Pharmacists’ Role in Virtual Wards

This session reviews the scope of practice of Canadian pharmacists, including drug administration by injection, pharmacist prescribing, and chronic disease management. It will also provide a brief overview of the Canadian healthcare landscape and the challenges currently facing the health system, as well as share current public reimbursement for these services in Canada.

This session will close with a discussion of the pharmacist’s role in smoking cessation and how pharmacists support Canadians on their quit journey. The concept of tobacco harm reduction will also be shared, including how it has become a growing priority in Canada.
